A Tune for Tuesday: “All Around the Kitchen”

rooster

“All Around the Kitchen”
Dan Zanes
from “Live! All Around the Kitchen” CD
available on iTunes

Why do you see a picture of a rooster with a song
called “All Around the Kitchen,” you ask? Simple –
because the words “cock-a-doodle-doodle-doo”
appear in pretty much every line of the song.

Dan Zanes is a unique musician – his music is
mostly for children, but strongly tinged with folk
and rock. This is a very fun and active song that
four-and-five-year-olds love. (It goes a little fast for
very little ones.) There’s plenty of time for
improvisational dancing and several “stop”s when
children have to stop, freeze and follow some
silly directions.

Silly and fun as it is, this song encourages careful
listening and dancing to the beat. It’s also a few
minutes of irresistable dance music – always
a good thing, in or out of the kitchen!
