Words of Wisdom for Wednesday: Zoltan Kodaly

Zoltan Kodaly, the Hungarian composer and music educator, refined the hand-gesture method of teaching solfege, or sight singing, and wrote many books on music education. If he were alive today, he might be appalled at the low quality of so much “children’s music.” Even the youngest toddler is nurtured and inspired by authentic, quality music, whether it’s classical, contemporary, Western, Eastern, folk, rock, country or jazz. It really matters to search out the highest quality music experiences we can provide for our students.
